Meritxell Bautista i Quiñones (born Montcada i Reixac, 1978) is a technology entrepreneur and speaker. She chairs Manix Capital, the holding company she incorporated in Manresa in 2018 with Josep Olivet. She holds degrees in tourism and hotel management and in law, and came to telecoms from the business side rather than through engineering. In 2013 she co-founded Fibracat, the operator that rolled out fibre across inland Catalonia while the large carriers kept their investment inside metropolitan Barcelona. In June 2020 she launched Fibracat TV and became its president: a DTT channel broadcasting across Catalonia with more than 95% of its content in Catalan. In 2021 Avatel Telecom bought Fibracat, eight years after she and Olivet started it and with the network rolled out across much of inland Catalonia. At Manix Capital she works on the part that usually decides whether a technology project lands or stalls: who governs it, who takes ownership of it inside the company and who has to use it every day. She has been a board member of FIDEM, the International Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs, since 2021, sits on the board of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce’s Observatory for Women, Business and Economy, and is an advisory board member of M4Social. As an international speaker she works under the HER LEGACY name, on leadership, artificial intelligence and the visibility of women in technology.
